Hand painted and dyed woven painting is from my Entwined sereies about endgagered birds. This piece is inspired by the Asian Crested Ibis, which is known for its distinctive rose-tinted plumage. Samurai used their feathers for their ornamental arrows and to make feather brooms for tea ceremonies. Habitat loss, pollution and starvation in winter combined resulted in catastrophic declines in the population. With conservation efforts the population is increasing but the prime concern is the poor genetic diversity in the breeding programs.
Measures 32" wide and 27" tall including wooden hanging device.
